Come on let’s twist again …. like we did last summer !
We all love stories that have unexpected beginnings, unexpected middles, and unexpected ends.
In Goldeneye, James Bond’s discovers that his colleague 006 is a double agent.
In The Sixth Sense, a child psychologist played by Bruce Willis realizes that a boy who claims to see dead people can only speak to him because the psychologist himself is dead.

And here is a nice example of how some twists have made their entry into the plot :
Marcus and Ellie exchanged a worried look and examined the bag again. Sure enough, the gold was gone.
“Did you, Vance?”
“Did I what?”
“Did you have Hines killed?”
“Now what kind of a question is that?”

And advice about twists (for the rest of us writers) from some well-known writers:
The best stories are the ones with the unexpected plot twists that no one would have guessed, not even the writer.
You can wipe your feet on me, twist my motives around all you like, you can dump millstones on my head and drown me in the river, but you can’t get me out of the story. I’m the plot, babe, and don’t you ever forget it.
I feel that the characters in my book, if they were real, would be like, “Seriously, another plot twist?

And, as always, I am pleased to share a short-story with a most delightful twist (by one of my favorite writers).
